What do I do if my dog is from a foreign country?

You must go to a vet (microchip or tattoo) or an approved tattoo association to get your dog identified (if this hasn't already been done) and register it with our organisation.

What do I do if my dog is lost or stolen ?

Notify ABIEC-BVIRH as quickly as possible by calling +32 (0)70 222 445.

What do I do if my dog has a microchip or tattoo but isn't registered with ABIEC-BVIRH ?

You must get in touch with the vet (microchip or tattoo) or the approved tattoo organisation and get them to send us the provisional identification and registration certificate.

I'm a private individual. Can I change the registered owner by phone, fax, or e-mail ?

No! You must use the original card "Change of owner or change of address request - Notification of dearth". If you no longer have this card, you must obtain a certificate of ownership from your vet accompanied by a document from the previous owner, confirming that the dog has been transferred to you.
